Inspected by CVBS

A 131 room Hotel Indigo in Katong, Singapore’s Peranakan heritage district in the east. One meeting room, the 110 square metre Joo Chiat Room on level 7, which divides in two. The restaurant, the rooftop and the garden terrace carry the social side of a programme.

It reaches shortlists for the neighbourhood rather than the numbers. It suits a board, a leadership offsite or an incentive group that wants Singapore away from Orchard Road and Marina Bay, and it is not a conference hotel.

What it suits

Good for

  • Board meetings and leadership offsites of 10 to 30
  • Workshops that split into two groups of 15
  • Incentive groups of up to about 60 who want a neighbourhood rather than a city centre
  • A welcome drink on the rooftop, or a group dinner for up to 80
  • The accommodation half of a program with its plenary at a larger hotel

Look elsewhere for

  • Any plenary above about 60, since there is one meeting room
  • Concurrent streams beyond two small rooms
  • Gala dinners above 80
  • Exhibitions or trade floors
  • A program that needs delegates walking to the CBD, which is a car or train ride away

The event floor

One meeting room on level 7, the Joo Chiat Room, finished in a Peranakan style and divisible into two. The hotel describes its event offer as built for 20 to 70 guests, with the restaurant, rooftop and garden used for meals and receptions.

Accommodation

131 rooms, each 30 square metres by IHG’s count, in a hotel that joins a new tower to the restored 1928 Joo Chiat Police Station. There is a rooftop infinity pool.

Where these figures come from, and why a dash is not a zero

A dash means the hotel publishes no figure for that setup. It does not mean the room cannot be set that way, only that we will not print a number the venue has not published.

Every figure is read from IHG’s events page for the hotel, and the hotel’s own meetings pages, checked 22 September 2026. Never estimated, never taken from a directory.

The hotel’s own pages describe the Joo Chiat Room in slightly different terms, so we confirm the whole-room figure with the hotel before it reaches a shortlist.

Bigger rooms in Singapore

The Joo Chiat Room is a small meeting room, so anything beyond about 60 moves to one of the larger hotels in town. These are the next steps up we have records for. Each figure below is read from that venue’s own published material. This is not a survey of the whole Singapore market, only the rooms we checked to make sure nothing on this page overstates the building.

Questions organisers ask

What size meeting can it hold?

Its one meeting room, the Joo Chiat Room on level 7, is 110 square metres and suits up to 60 guests by IHG’s description. Divided in two, each half takes 15 guests, or 10 in a u-shape.

Are there other spaces for events?

Three, all food and drink spaces rather than meeting rooms. The hotel restaurant and bar takes up to 80, and the rooftop and the garden terrace each take up to 50. They suit a welcome drink or a group dinner rather than a working session.

How many guest rooms does it have?

131, each 30 square metres, by IHG’s count at opening in July 2016. That comfortably houses a board or an incentive group of 30 to 60, which is the size the meeting room is built for.

Where is it?

On East Coast Road in Katong, in Singapore’s east, about fifteen minutes by road from Changi Airport and from the CBD by IHG’s estimate. Part of the hotel is the restored 1928 Joo Chiat Police Station.

Who does it suit?

A board, a leadership offsite or an incentive group that wants Singapore’s Peranakan neighbourhoods rather than Orchard Road or Marina Bay. A plenary above about 60 belongs at one of the larger hotels.

Capacities read from the venue’s own published material on 22 September 2026. Comparison figures read from each named venue’s own published material on the same date.

We do not see every room on every visit. Where we were not in a room, its figures come from the venue's own chart rather than from us. We do not rate or score venues and we do not publish rates.

Our service is free to you. We are independent of every venue we put forward, no venue is favoured, and your interests come first.
