Inspected by CVBS

A 151 room Kimpton hotel on Carrer del Duc in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, opened in 2020 as the brand’s first hotel in Spain. Its event spaces are small and characterful: a rooftop terrace with a pool for 90 standing, a first floor restaurant for 100 standing or 78 at dinner, and one meeting room for 40 theatre. Two private rooms off the restaurant take 20 to 24.

It reaches shortlists for the location and the rooftop rather than the size. It suits a board meeting, a leadership offsite or an incentive group that wants to stay in the old town, with dinners and receptions in house. What it will not do is a plenary: the largest indoor seated setup is 40 theatre.

What it suits

Good for

  • Board meetings and workshops of up to 40 theatre or 28 boardroom in the PlayRoom
  • Welcome drinks of up to 90 on the rooftop, with the pool and the city behind
  • A private restaurant dinner of up to 78, or 100 standing
  • Private dinners of 20 to 24 in the rooms off the restaurant
  • Leadership and incentive groups that want to stay in the Gothic Quarter

Look elsewhere for

  • A plenary or conference above 40 seated indoors
  • A dinner above 78 in one room
  • Exhibitions or trade floors, since there is no exhibition hall

The event floor

A rooftop terrace with a bar and a pool, a first floor restaurant with two private rooms off it, and one meeting room with natural light. A small program can meet in the PlayRoom, dine in the restaurant and finish on the roof without leaving the building.

Accommodation

151 rooms and suites in four types, from city single rooms through Essential and Premium rooms to suites, some with private terraces.

Where these figures come from, and why a dash is not a zero

A dash means the hotel publishes no figure for that setup. It does not mean the room cannot be set that way, only that we will not print a number the venue has not published.

Every figure is read from the capacity chart in the hotel’s own technical sheet, checked 23 September 2026. Never estimated, never taken from a directory.

The hotel’s own site gives 151 rooms and suites. IHG’s 2020 opening announcement gave a different count, so we publish the hotel’s current figure.

Bigger rooms in Barcelona

The hotel’s largest indoor room takes 78 for dinner or 100 standing, so a plenary moves to a congress centre, read on 23 September 2026. Each figure below is read from that venue’s own published material. This is not a survey of the whole Barcelona market, only the rooms we checked to make sure nothing on this page overstates the building.

Questions organisers ask

What size event can it hold?

Up to 100 standing or 78 at dinner in the first floor restaurant, 135 square metres, and up to 90 standing or 45 at dinner on the rooftop terrace, 195 square metres. The largest seated meeting is 50 theatre in the rooftop sofa area, or 40 theatre indoors in the PlayRoom.

How many meeting rooms are there?

One dedicated meeting room, the PlayRoom on the first floor, 60 square metres with natural light: 40 theatre, 21 classroom, 28 cabaret or 28 boardroom. Two private rooms off the restaurant, 26 square metres each, take 24 theatre or 20 boardroom.

What outdoor event space is there?

Capacities read from the venue’s own published material on 23 September 2026. Comparison figures read from each named venue’s own published material on the same date.

We do not see every room on every visit. Where we were not in a room, its figures come from the venue's own chart rather than from us. We do not rate or score venues and we do not publish rates.

Our service is free to you. We are independent of every venue we put forward, no venue is favoured, and your interests come first.
