Where these figures come from, and why a dash is not a zero

A dash means Marriott publishes no figure for that setup. It does not mean the room cannot be set that way, only that we will not print a number the venue has not published.

Every figure is read from Marriott’s own events page for the hotel, checked 22 September 2026. Never estimated, never taken from a directory.

Marriott publishes a 1,500 figure for every function room plus the pier together, for a standing reception only. It publishes no seated figure for the whole venue.

Bigger rooms in Sydney

The Water Room tops out at 200 theatre, so a larger seated plenary moves to a hotel ballroom in the city or by the beach. Each figure below is read from that venue’s own published material. This is not a survey of the whole Sydney market, only the rooms we checked to make sure nothing on this page overstates the building.

Questions organisers ask

What size event can it hold?

The Water Room is the largest room at 315 square metres with a seven metre ceiling. It takes 200 theatre, 180 for a banquet, 127 classroom and 350 for a cocktail reception. With every function room and the pier combined, Marriott gives 1,500 for a standing reception.

How many event spaces are there?

Marriott lists nine event rooms and 734 square metres of event space. They are the Water Room, the Bridge Room, the Bridge Marquee and the Dawes Point Room, which divides into seven smaller rooms.

Is there accommodation on site?

Yes. The hotel has 189 rooms and suites in a heritage wharf building at Walsh Bay, with water view, bridge view and heritage room categories.

Where is it?

At 11 Hickson Road, Walsh Bay, on a heritage finger wharf beside the southern end of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, a short walk from The Rocks and Circular Quay.

Does it suit a conference?

For a meeting of up to 200 theatre with breakouts, yes. The Dawes Point rooms give up to seven breakouts of 20 to 30 theatre each. Above 200 seated in one room it needs a larger ballroom elsewhere in Sydney.

Sources, photography and how we work

Capacities read from the venue’s own published material on 22 September 2026. Comparison figures read from each named venue’s own published material on the same date.

We do not see every room on every visit. Where we were not in a room, its figures come from the venue's own chart rather than from us. We do not rate or score venues and we do not publish rates.

Our service is free to you. We are independent of every venue we put forward, no venue is favoured, and your interests come first.
