Marriott’s Four Points hotel in the Central Park precinct on Broadway, Chippendale, a short walk from Central Station. Three Level 1 event rooms, 244 square metres combined for 180 theatre, with 309 rooms upstairs.
It suits training days, workshops and residential meetings that want the room block and the meeting room under one roof, and a program that sits inside 180 seats.
What it suits
Good for
- Training days and workshops to 56 classroom in Kensington, with two breakouts beside it
- Conferences to 180 theatre with the three rooms opened together
- Residential programs that want 309 rooms upstairs from the meeting room
- Groups arriving by train, a short walk from Central Station
Look elsewhere for
- A seated plenary above 180 in one room
- A seated dinner above 128 in one room
- Tall staging or rigging, with a 2.7 metre ceiling throughout
- Exhibitions or trade floors
The event floor
Three rooms on Level 1, all under a 2.7 metre ceiling. Kensington, at 128 square metres, takes 100 theatre on its own, and Cooper and Balfour sit beside it for breakouts. Opened together they give 244 square metres for 180 theatre or 128 banquet.
Accommodation
309 rooms, 45 of them suites, above the event floor. Marriott publishes Studio Suites at 41 square metres.
If you need the beds without the ballroom, that is a normal brief and we run it on its own. See group accommodation for how a room block is held, and corporate accommodation for an ongoing rate program.

Where these figures come from, and why a dash is not a zero
A dash means Marriott publishes no figure for that setup. It does not mean the room cannot be set that way, only that we will not print a number the venue has not published.
Every figure is read from Marriott’s own events page for the hotel, checked 22 September 2026. Never estimated, never taken from a directory.
The August 2026 sale announcement gives the event space as 270 sqm. We use Marriott’s capacity chart, which gives 244 sqm for the three rooms combined.
The building
Bigger rooms in Sydney
The three Level 1 rooms opened together top out at 180 theatre, so a larger plenary moves to a hotel ballroom elsewhere in Sydney. Each figure below is read from that venue’s own published material. This is not a survey of the whole Sydney market, only the rooms we checked to make sure nothing on this page overstates the building.

Recent changes
Fewer event rooms than at opening. The hotel opened in 2018 with more function space than it has now. A conference floor has since been converted into 12 guest rooms, taking the hotel to 309 rooms, and the event rooms are now the three on Level 1.
The ground floor restaurant and bar has been refurbished. It was refurbished and repositioned toward the neighbourhood’s residents and students, and trades as a rotisserie restaurant and bar.
New owner, same operator. The hotel was sold in August 2026. Marriott continues to manage it as a Four Points by Sheraton.

Questions organisers ask
What size event can it hold?
With its three Level 1 rooms opened together, 244 square metres, it takes 180 theatre, 128 for a banquet, 96 classroom and 180 for a standing reception. The largest single room, Kensington, takes 100 theatre and 64 for a banquet.
How many event spaces are there?
Marriott lists three: Kensington at 128 square metres, Cooper at 53 and Balfour at 64, all on Level 1 with a 2.7 metre ceiling. Cooper and Balfour each take 40 theatre or 20 classroom as breakouts.
Is there accommodation on site?
Yes. The hotel has 309 rooms, 45 of them suites, which makes it a building where a whole training group can sleep upstairs from the meeting room.
Where is it?
At 88 Broadway, Chippendale, in the Central Park precinct, with the hotel entrance on Central Park Avenue. Central Station is a short walk east.
Does it suit a conference?
For a training day, workshop or residential meeting of up to 180 theatre with two breakouts, yes. Above 180 seated in one room it needs a hotel ballroom elsewhere in Sydney.

Sources, photography and how we work
Capacities read from the venue’s own published material on 22 September 2026. Comparison figures read from each named venue’s own published material on the same date.
We do not see every room on every visit. Where we were not in a room, its figures come from the venue's own chart rather than from us. We do not rate or score venues and we do not publish rates.
Our service is free to you. We are independent of every venue we put forward, no venue is favoured, and your interests come first.
