IHG’s voco estate hotel in Pokolbin, in the Hunter Valley wine country, set on 70 acres of gardens around a colonial style manor. Hunter & Rothbury for 300 theatre that divides into two, seven event spaces in all, and 70 rooms on the estate.
It suits a residential conference, offsite or incentive of up to 300 where delegates stay on site, with the evenings moving out to the lounge bar, the courtyards and the gardens.

The event floor
Hunter & Rothbury takes the plenary or the dinner and divides into two rooms for breakouts, with French doors along the side. The James Busby Room handles a second plenary or a banquet for 80, and the smaller rooms take the board meetings and private dinners.
Accommodation
Delegates stay on the estate in rooms and suites set around the gardens, a short walk from the event rooms, with an indoor pool, spa and gym on site.

What size event can it hold?
Hunter & Rothbury, at 255 square metres with a 3.6 metre ceiling, takes 300 theatre, 200 banquet, 144 cabaret and 320 for a cocktail reception. It divides into the Hunter and Rothbury rooms, 127.5 square metres each, at 100 theatre or 80 banquet.
What other event spaces are there?
The James Busby Room, at 180 square metres, takes 120 theatre or 80 banquet. The Valley View Room takes 40 theatre, and there is a private dining room, a boardroom for 18 and the Lili Marleen Room for 10. Outside, the gardens, courtyards and a deck are all used for receptions.
Is there accommodation on site?
Yes. 70 rooms and suites across the estate, plus the Manor House, which can be booked on its own.
Where is it?
On Oakey Creek Road in Pokolbin, in the Hunter Valley wine country. The hotel puts itself about two hours by road from Sydney and an hour from Newcastle Airport.
Is it big enough for a large conference?
Up to 300 theatre in one room. Above that, the Conference & Events Centre at Rydges Resort Hunter Valley takes 1,160 theatre, and the Cypress Lakeside Marquee at Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort takes 672 theatre.
