Marriott’s W hotel on the Darling Harbour waterfront, opened in October 2023 in The Ribbon building a short walk from ICC Sydney. A 592 square metre pillarless Great Room for 500 theatre that divides in two, eight event rooms in about 1,300 square metres, and 588 rooms above.
It suits a product launch, a gala dinner to 360 or a conference of up to 500 that wants a design led hotel rather than a convention hall, with the evening moving up to the rooftop bar or the pool deck.

The event floor
The Great Room takes the plenary, the launch or the dinner under a 5.6 metre ceiling with floor to ceiling windows, and divides into two rooms of 250 theatre. The foyer outside it takes 300 for a reception, and four studios and two strategy rooms handle the breakouts and board meetings.
Accommodation
588 rooms above the event floor, 162 of them suites, with a 30 metre heated infinity pool, a rooftop bar and a day spa in the same building.

What size event can it hold?
The Great Room, at 592 square metres with a 5.6 metre ceiling, takes 500 theatre, 360 banquet, 339 classroom and 600 for a cocktail reception. It divides into Great Room 1 and Great Room 2, at 302 and 290 square metres, each taking 250 theatre or 120 banquet.
What other event spaces are there?
The foyer outside the Great Room, at 425 square metres, takes 300 for a reception. Studio 2 takes 100 theatre, Studio 3 takes 56 and Studio 1 takes 32, with Studio 4 and two strategy rooms for meetings of ten. The hotel also has a two storey rooftop bar and a pool deck bar for the evenings.
Is there accommodation on site?
Yes. 588 rooms, 162 of them suites, with a 30 metre heated infinity pool, a 15 metre indoor pool, a day spa and a 24 hour gym.
Where is it?
At 31 Wheat Road on the Darling Harbour waterfront, in The Ribbon building a short walk from ICC Sydney. Marriott puts it 14.3 kilometres from Sydney Airport.
Is it big enough for a large conference?
Up to 500 theatre in one room. Above that, the Wentworth Ballroom at Sofitel Sydney Wentworth takes 800 theatre, the Grand Ballroom at Hilton Sydney 1,100 theatre, and the Grand Ballroom at ICC Sydney, a short walk away, 2,000 banquet.
